New Orleans (TAN): The city of the world-famous Mardi Gras is bracing for a possible hurricane as tropical storm Barry is advancing towards Louisiana and threatening to turn into a hurricane.
The effects of the storm has already flooded many parts of the state.

New Orleans, a popular tourist destination by the Mississippi river, is also known for its French Quarter.
“There are three ways that Louisiana can flood: storm surge, high rivers and rain,” an ITV report quoted Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards as saying. “We’re going to have all three.”

Ahead of Barry hitting the city, New Orleans LaToya Cantrell mayor said: “Residents should be wrapping up preparedness activities this morning: Gather emergency supplies, including water, food & medication for at least three days. Prepare property for heavy rain and wind: clean gutters, downspouts and in front of catch basins.”
The authorities are keeping a close watch on the progress of tropical storm Barry.
