(TAN): Wareham, a town in the United States’ Massachusetts state, is usually considered the gateway to Cape Cod, reports said. But that is about to change.

The town is reportedly launching a new advertising campaign to rebrand itself as a tourist destination in a bid to shake off the “Gateway to Cape Cod” tag it has carried for years.

The campaign will urge tourists to halt before the bridges where the Cape Cod traffic starts and take in the beauty of over 50 miles of the Atlantic coastline, reports said.

With the slogan “It’s Better Before The Bridges”, the campaign aims to make visitors notice and appreciate the town for its attractions including beaches, the village of Onset, shopping at big retailers, and industries such as cranberry-growing and craft-brewing, as per reports.

“It’s way past time people realize Wareham is more than just a gateway. This is a community on the rise, and between our 50-plus miles of shoreline, hiking trails, boating and fishing opportunities, pro-business mindset, and deep sense of community, we want folks to know Wareham has everything our neighbors across the bridge have — just with less traffic and lower costs,” Town Administrator Derek Sullivan was quoted by Cape Cod Times as saying.

Wareham has reportedly rolled out a website — discover-wareham.com to inform visitors about the 20 restaurants and eight locations for lodgings that have so far been listed. The town could also run a #discoverWareham hashtag on social media, as per reports.

Wareham is located in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, around 55 miles south of Boston.
