Paris (TAN): Firefighters are working to put out a massive fire that is raging at the world-famous Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris.
“A terrible fire has broken out at the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris,” Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo wrote on Twitter and asked people to respect the security cordon around the 850-year-old church.
Considered among the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, the Catholic church is visited by thousands every week.

Pictures and videos on social media show thick gray plumes of smoke emanating from the church. The tallest tower is seen completely engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, said reports.
