(TAN): Travel show host Andrew Zimmern and actor Morgan Freeman have joined hands to support the restaurant industry, which has been battered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zimmern’s TV and digital production company Intuitive Content and the Independent Restaurant Coalition have released a video, with a voiceover by the Academy Award-winning actor, which urges people to urge the Congress to pass the Restaurants Act, which would help set up a USD 120 billion fund to help independent restaurants.
“Neighborhood restaurants are the lifeblood of our communities,” Freeman says in the video. “They are where we come together and make life-long memories, and right now they are facing extinction.”

“The COVID-19 crisis threatens to permanently close 85% of independent restaurants…. One in four people who lost their jobs during the pandemic were restaurant workers. Without your help, our favorite places to eat will be gone — forever,” Freeman says.
“It’s time Congress steps up to #SaveRestaurants by passing the RESTAURANTS Act,” Zimmern said.
