Islamabad (TAN): Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan wants the Bala Hissar Fort in the country’s northern city Peshawar to be converted into a tourism destination, a report in The Express Tribune said.
The fort now serves as headquarters for a section of Pakistan’s armed forces.
“Arrangement for the commercial use of 800 and 157 rest houses in Punjab and K-P, respectively, should be finalised,” the report quoted Imran as saying.
The current Pakistani leaders is also going for a reorganisation of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation.
The Prime Minister’s decision was aimed at promoting tourism at the international level among other things.
Pakistan is developing 20 new tourism destinations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, of which Peshawar is the capital.
Pakistan recently eased tourist visa restrictions in a bid to boost tourism and foreign investment.

Citizens of 50 countries will be offered visas on arrival, while that of 175 countries will be able to acquire electronic visas, media reports said.
