(TAN): The Ritz-Carlton, Portland opened its doors to guests this week. This 35-story luxury hotel, boasting 251 rooms, marks the debut of the Ritz-Carlton brand in the Pacific Northwest.
Located centrally in downtown Portland, the hotel offers panoramic views of the city. “As the first Ritz-Carlton property to open in the Pacific Northwest, this project has been an extraordinary collaboration between the brand, ownership, and the Portland community,” said General Manager Marie Browne. “Our team of talented architects, designers, builders, and staff have long awaited the day we are able to open our doors and welcome guests inside this property. We have worked alongside local and regional artisans, purveyors, and tastemakers to create an authentic Pacific Northwest experience, providing a new destination for locals and visitors alike.”
Jenni Benzaquen, SVP and global brand leader of The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, said: “The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, pays homage to the city’s rich local culture and landscape. Our goal is to establish a beloved presence within both the Portland community and among visitors.”
Designed by GBD Architects, the 460-foot crystalline tower draws inspiration from the region’s columnar basalt formations, with a white base and stormwater planters activated by rainfall. The building’s pinnacle features a glass dome that illuminates at night, enhancing Portland’s skyline.
HKS Hospitality Interiors designed the interiors, reflecting the wilderness and modern luxury. Forest Hall, the grand lobby, emulates the Pacific Northwest’s lush landscape, with nods to the city’s history and the Lewis & Clark expedition. Tree-like panels filter natural light into the space, leading to Meadowrue, an intimate lobby bar celebrating Portland’s coffee culture.
The hotel offers 207 guestrooms and 44 suites, each inspired by Oregon’s forests and rivers, with vertical panels, soft carpets, luxury leather goods, and modern travel trunk interpretations. The 20th-floor Ritz-Carlton Club offers a personalized experience with handmade treasures and local artwork.
The 19th floor, Cloudbreak on Nineteen, includes the Hidden Mountain Lake Infinity Pool, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, a fitness facility, and a yoga studio. Bellpine, the signature restaurant on the 20th floor, draws inspiration from Oregon’s culinary traditions, showcasing local ingredients.
