Edinburgh (TAN): As Scotland gears up for three major sporting shows coming weekend, train operating company ScotRail is all set to transport its passengers smoothly to their venues.

While football fans will head to Hampden for the William Hill Scottish Cup Final in the afternoon, the Celtic Park will welcome rugby fans for the Guinness Pro14 Final between Leinster and Glasgow Warriors in the evening. On the other hand, the Edinburgh Marathon will attract not just runners but also spectators from all over.

Although ScotRail will increase seats to ‘as many trains as possible’ so that supporters can conveniently reach the matches, it also advised fans to have extra time on hand as ‘trains will be busy’.

The train operator will keep queuing systems ready at Glasgow Central before the football game, at Mount Florida and Kings Park after the final whistle, and at Bellgrove and Dalmarnock after the rugby match.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said the weekend will be busy since it is the ‘last big weekend of sport for a while’.

“To help the events run smoothly, we’ll be adding extra seats to as many trains as possible. And although we can’t make every train longer, we will be using every train we can. I encourage anyone travelling this weekend to allow extra time for travel, and to minimise the need to queue, buy your tickets in advance on the ScotRail app or website,” he added.

ScotRail will have extra staff to support customers and, put a ban on alcohol.
