Seattle (TAN): United States-based cruise company Seabourn Cruise Line has revealed the design for its custom submarines that will conduct excursions from the line’s two upcoming ultra-luxury expedition ships.
Both the ships, Seabourn Venture and its unnamed sister vessel will sail globally, featuring the two U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7 submarines, designed exclusively for the company. Each of the battery-powered submarines will transport six passengers and one pilot into depths up to 300 metres.
Passengers will sit in two clear acrylic spheres close to the pilot’s station, with three seats in each sphere straddling a rotating platform for enhanced guest experience.

Vice President of Expedition Operations for Seabourn, Robin West said: “The undersea world is often considered as the last great frontier on Earth, with more than 80 percent of the underwater realm remaining unmapped, unobserved, and unexplored according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.”
“With these subs, we’re going to take our guests to places that few have ever seen firsthand, leaving them with a perspective on the world around us that is jaw-dropping and will create stories to last a lifetime,” he added.
The submarines will be fitted with a range of optional equipment including a 4k underwater video camera system, an internal video recording system, a six-function manipulator arm, custom embroidered leather upholstery, two air conditioning systems, a Bluetooth stereo system, and champagne chiller.
The submarines, armed with underwater LED flood lights, imaging sonar, and an advanced underwater tracking and navigation system, will carry guests into the depths of the ocean several times each day in different parts of the world.
Seabourn Venture is expected to be floated in June 2021, while the yet unnamed ship could be launched in May 2022. Seabourn Venture will visit various destinations in the Arctic, Antarctica, Amazon, Caribbean, Central and South America between July 2021 and April 2022.
