Chicago (TAN): United States-based carrier United Airlines has unveiled a new livery to give a revitalised look to its fleet.
The airline has incorporated three shades of blue – rhapsody, United and sky blue, in the design to represent the brand’s ‘modern energy’ while also ‘staying true to the history it has developed over the past 93 years’.
While the iconic globe logo characterising United’s route network will remain on the aircraft tail, it will wear a gradient in the three shades of blue, with the logo mainly in sky blue.
The engines and wingtips will be painted United blue, and the swoop rhapsody blue. United Airlines tagline ‘Connecting people. Uniting the world.’ will be added to each aircraft door, and the brand name will be seen on the aircraft body.
Chief Executive Officer of United Airlines Oscar Munoz said: “As we improve and elevate our customer experience, we are changing the way people think and feel about United, and this branding captures that new spirit.”
“Each improvement we’ve added to our service advances our evolution as an airline, furthering our effort to elevate and redefine customer service in the sky. This modernized design, especially our iconic globe, enhances the very best of United’s image and values while pointing in the direction of where we intend to go next in serving our customers,” he added.

United Airlines updated its brand palette last year to refresh its visual identity. While blue continues to dominate the colour palette, the airline also included shades of purple, and cut down on the use of gold. The new colour combinations will be introduced to the new uniforms of over 70,000 employees.
The first aircraft to get the new livery will be a Boeing 737-800.
