Spain: Police arrest British tourist after asking him to put on face mask five times

(TAN): A British tourist was arrested in Spain after he allegedly turned violent towards police personnel who tried to get the 22-year-old put on a mask, Mirror reported.

The tourist turned ‘violent’ after police asked him to wear a mask as many as five times, the cops told the media.

The drama unfolded after police spotted three men, including the accused, drinking alcohol on the seafront in La Malagueta. They approached themto tell them they could not consume alcohol on the street and had to put their face masks on.

Two of the men obeyed but the third one ignored them. Instead, he “began to insult the officers”, said media reports. Mirror reported that “instead of calming down, the British tourist spat at one of the officers who was able to move out of the way in time.”

The tourist was then arrested and taken from the beach to a nearby patrol car. The police said the tourist began smashing his head and feet against the inside of the patrol car. and was consequently driven straight to a hospital to receive medical attention. Doctors admitted he was given a sedative.

Reports said, the tourist was supposed to fly back to the UK on the night of the incident.
