(TAN): Tourism Australia has released a new online interactive map to help people navigate through those parts of the country that are now open to travellers.

As Covid-19 has affected each region differently, it will take a while until the entire country can be opened up. Meanwhile, the federal government will follow a “three-step plan” to lift measures imposed to slow the spread of the pandemic.

As travel restrictions continue to ease across Australia, Aussies who are seeking to get out of the house can access the map for an overview of the country’s domestic travel scenario. It acts as a handy tool with click-through links to each state and territory for advice including current status of the region’s borders, latest travel information and advice for industry.

The map can be used to find out if a state allows regional or interstate travel, what rules travellers need to abide by when they arrive and what kind of restrictions are currently in place. Presently, only New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria are open to interstate travellers.

Travel advice consists of a list of activities visitors can indulge in. For example, Aussies can travel to New South Wales for a holiday, visit museums, galleries, libraries and beauty salons, and camp in parks while following COVID-safe guidelines. They will also be able to visit some of the national parks in the region. Pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes have been directed to accommodate up to 50 customers at a time.

The map has been published at a time when Australia gradually starts to reopen for business, and encourages domestic travel, reports said.
