Phnom Penh (TAN): A USD 500.4 million tourism project has been approved by the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

The project is called a Tourism, Ecological, Marine and International (Temi) project and is part of Chinese-owned Union City Development Group Co Ltd’s Dara Sakor Tourism Resort project.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia has approved the Union City Development Group’s proposal to invest in a five-star hotel. The hotel will have 800 rooms, a commercial centre, a golf course, bungalows, villas, amusement parks, and a naval park.

The project is located in Koh Kong province’s Kiri Sakor district and is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs.

Koh Kong province deputy governor Sok Sothy earlier this week told the Phnom Penh Post that Temi was only a small part of UDG’s larger development project.

“The whole project has already been approved,” he said.
