Male (TAN): Tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year crossed one million in early August, the archipelago nation’s tourism ministry has announced.
According to a statement cited by media, Maldives tourism minister Ali Waheed said 994,733 tourists had visited the Maldives till the end of July and by August 2, the number had crossed one million.

Tourist arrivals in July registered a 17.2-percent growth, compared with the same period last year, Famagusta Gazette said.
The largest chunk of tourists to the country are from China. Till August, the number of Chinese tourists have seen a 7.6% growth, the report added.
