United Airlines flight skids off runway while landing at Newark

New Jersey (TAN): A United Airlines aircraft skidded of the runway while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Saturday.

The aircraft (flight No. 627) had 166 passengers on board, said reports. No one was injured.

TV visuals showed the aircraft stationery off the pavement in the grassy area.

The inbound flight was from Denver and the incident took place at 1300 hours, media reports said.

No injuries were reported, the authorities said. The airline reportedly said the plane blew a tyre while landing and that resulted in it skidding.

Newark airport stopped arrivals and departures for a while after the accident before resuming operations.
