(TAN): The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has announced a strategic partnership with tourism operator Alpitour World, to spearhead innovation, education, and sustainability efforts in the tourism sector.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two organizations solidifies their commitment to collaborating on shared strategic goals and leveraging public-private partnerships to achieve transformative outcomes. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and Alpitour World President Gabriele Burgio signed the agreement.
This partnership aims to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors, paving the way for a smarter tourism ecosystem.

To ensure effective implementation, UNWTO and Alpitour World will hold regular joint meetings and strategy sessions, allowing them to address pressing challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities within the tourism sector.
The key aims of the partnership are:
- Develop strategic collaborations in tourism innovation, including through supporting the creation of a tourism startup ecosystem.
- Recognize and support the best new talent through the organization of start-up competitions focused on advancing tourism’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Advance tourism as a pillar of rural development, including through Alpitour World’s support of the Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO initiative.
- Collaborate in training hospitality workers, including through joint education courses and other training materials.
