Bethesda (TAN): United States-based luxury hotel chain Marriott International’s brand Moxy Hotels has teamed up with American tattoo artist Megan Massacre to ink guests inspired by Moxy’s Blank Canvas art programme at the brand’s pop-up studios for free.
Vice President, Distinctive Select Brands, Marriott International, Toni Stoeckl said: “Moxy Hotels are a playground for travelers and locals alike to engage in spontaneous experiences that are bold and culturally captivating. Painters, photographers, film-makers, sculptors, illustrators and graffiti artists can submit their work and get an opportunity to exhibit them at new Moxy Hotels as part of the Blank Canvas programme. Selected pieces find a permanent place in the art collection at each of these properties. Massacre will transform the artists’ pieces into her own to imprint original tattoo designs on guests.
Massacre, who owns a New York-based studio ‘Grit N Glory’, said: “Moxy’s Blank Canvas program embodies a fun and playful approach to curating art, and similar to the tattoos I create, it’s an expression of individuality that inspires creativity.”
At the opening party of Moxy Washington, D.C. Downtown, she inked guests with designs inspired by Indian artist Rahul Jha. Massacre will create tattoo designs based on Austrian artist Petra Braun’s work at Moxy Chattanooga on June 25. She will also be present at Moxy Atlanta Midtown to ink guests this fall.
