Miramar (TAN): Spirit Airlines has announced Charlotte in United States’ North Carolina as its newest destination.

The airline will fly nonstop daily between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and four destinations within the United States — Baltimore/Washington, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando in Florida, and Newark in New Jersey, starting June 20 this year.

Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning John Kirby said: “The North Carolina economy continues to thrive, and we are thrilled to add the state’s largest city, Charlotte, to our route network.”

“We are excited to offer our Guests a chance to experience all of what The Queen City has to offer.  Whether you are a foodie, a craft brew enthusiast, or a stock car racing fan, Charlotte offers great restaurants, breweries, and is the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.  Of course, we are equally happy to introduce our new Charlotte-area Guests to our substantial and growing list of domestic and international destinations,” he added.

The new routes could further the carrier’s expansion plans, by adding more connections throughout its network. Charlotte will be Spirit Airlines’ fourth destination in North Carolina alone. It already operates to Asheville and Greensboro, and will fly to Raleigh/Durham starting May 2.

Aviation Director of Charlotte Douglas International Airport said that the airport welcomed Spirit Airlines. “We look forward to working with Spirit Airlines to advance our excellent customer experience program with even more travel options for our millions of customers,” he added.
