(TAN): A new video has surfaced showing at least 10 sharks swarming a bait ball just about 500 metres from the popular Burleigh Heads beach on Australia’s Gold Coast, a report in Daily Mail said.

The place is located around 15 km away from Greenmount beach on Gold Coast where Nick Slater, 46, died in a shark attack on September 8.

Recorded from a drone, the video shows sharks close to the surface circling one of the fish bait balls. Many others were seen lurking deep below, all eager to get a taste of the dead animals left there as a way to prevent sharks from getting too close to shore.

“This was about 500 meters off-shore and completely took me by surprise how close it was and the scale of how many sharks there were,” Hinton, who took the video, was quoted as saying by the report.

Locals have been cautious about stepping into the water following the recent shark attack near Greenmount Beach and other nearby ones along the Gold Coast. The new footage has prompted the authorities to issue a warning to all swimmers, who have been especially asked to stay away from any bait balls.
