San Francisco (TAN): Yosemite National Park in the United States has introduced a new mobile application in collaboration with Yosemite Conservancy to help visitors conveniently plan a trip to the park.
Yosemite Conservancy, also called the Yosemite Foundation, is a San Francisco-based nonprofit which encourages people to support programmes that are critical for the park’s future.
“This app features incredible content about what to see and do in Yosemite in different areas of the park during all seasons. It’s a great tool intended to enrich visitors’ time in Yosemite,” Yosemite National Park Superintendent Michael Reynolds said.

The app, which is available as NPS Yosemite National Park on iOS and as NPS Yosemite on Android, provides not just basic information about park services and programmes, but also an interactive map built to help explorers locate iconic features, scenic spots, trailheads and amenities.
It suggests one-day itineraries to discover different areas of park, tours to learn about Yosemite’s history and natural phenomena, and timetables for activities such as art workshops, theater performances, and ranger-guided programs, among others. The app also assists visitors with information associated with bus shuttles, road conditions, parking, and restaurants.
While the content was shaped by members of the National Park Service in Yosemite, Yosemite Conservancy and other park partners based on experience working with park visitors in and around the Yosemite area, the Yosemite Conservancy donors sponsored its creation. Most of the content can be downloaded before entering the park and used offline.

“This is a powerful tool to have in your hand to explore and learn about the park. As more people experience Yosemite’s beauty, learn of its history and create memories, it will inspire them to preserve and protect it,” Yosemite Conservancy President Frank Dean said.
Located in California state’s Sierra Nevada mountains, Yosemite National Park is known for the iconic Bridalveil Fall, the granite cliffs of Al Capitan and Half Dome, and its giant, ancient sequoia trees.
