Kolkata (TAN): Mosquitoes are not the kind of company people tend to enjoy, especially on a flight. What many may not enjoy further is the airline handing them over a battery-powered mosquito-swatter to kill the insects. That is India-based low-cost carrier IndiGo’s solution to the problem.
This is exactly what Namrata (31) and Debargha (34) experienced on the IndoGo 6E-674 flight from Kolkata to Ahmedabad on Sunday.
“There were so many mosquitoes buzzing around in the aircraft cabin and it was really irritating,” Namrata told TAN. The couple lives in Ahmedabad.

“We tried to take care of the problem on our own for a bit. But after a while, it became really irritating and we explained the situation to the stewardess,” she adds.
Debargha says: “The stewardess expressed helplessness and said there was not much they would about the situation. But she came back in a while with this battery-powered mosquito-swatter!”
“It was a little funny because you don’t tend to associate such activities with flights. But you’ve got to kill mosquitoes when you’ve got to kill mosquitoes,” says Namrata with a grin.
