Baltimore, US (TAN): The rain could not hold back the power of patriotism.
The thunders roared across the overcast, murky sky since Thursday afternoon, with consequent spells of heavy downpour, but as the tradition goes on, nature bowed down before the mighty hues of red, blue and white.
Ports America Chesapeake Fourth of July Celebration fireworks began sharp at 9.30pm, as it does every year, at the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. Hundreds flocked the harbour barge, and tourists gathered on hotel rooftops to watch the magnificent fireworks.

Cafes inside the Hilton and Sheraton hotels displayed decorative boards to tune in to the Independence Day celebrations, with clothing stores announcing huge discounts through the weekend.
