Bangkok (TAN): A search operation is on to find a Spanish national who called police late on Saturday evening saying he was lost on a mountainside near Na Muang waterfall on Koh Samui, the popular tourist destination island in the Gulf of Thailand.

A report in Bangkok post said some 50 officials and rescue workers were trying to locate the man, who had called the cops at 2020 hours on Sunday.

The rescue team found the motorcycle rented by the tourist that he had apparently parked before heading up the waterfall trail.

However, the team could not locate him on Sunday night on the precariously steep trail.

The police intend to resume the search on Monday morning.
