AirAsia to fly nonstop to China’s Lanzhou four times a week

Sepang (TAN): Malaysia-based airline AirAsia will operate direct flights four times per week between the Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur and Lanzhou in Northwest China, starting May 1 this year.

“AirAsia is committed to growing its footprint in China. Last year, we announced a new route to Tianjin, and today’s addition of Lanzhou to our network is proof of our commitment to expanding our presence in this key market, as we continue to serve the needs of Malaysian and Chinese travellers alike,” said AirAsia X Malaysia CEO Benyamin Ismail.

“AirAsia is the largest foreign carrier by capacity in China, where we operate more than 600 weekly flights to 23 cities from Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines,” said Tassapon Bijleveld, AirAsia China and Indochina CEO.

He further said that the “new route will provide an additional 156,000 seats per year to China, alongside a significant contribution to tourism, trade and economic growth between the two countries”.

One of the largest cities in Northwest China’s Gansu province, Lanzhou is an important tourism hub.

According to the schedule, flight D7 398 will depart Kuala Lumpur on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 1725 hours and arrive Lanzhou at 2220 hours.

Flight D7 399 will leave Lanzhou on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 2350 hours, reaching Kuala Lumpur at 0445 next day.

AirAsia is offering one-way fares starting at MYR 149 for standard seats and MYR 789 for premium flatbeds for members, inclusive of taxes, to celebrate the new route. Prices for standard seats for non-members start at MYR 154.

The deal is valid until March 24, 2019, for travel between May 1 and October 26, 2019.
