(TAN): Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell has now opened for guests. Situated south of the Miami River on SW 11th Street in Mary Brickell Village — part of the city’s financial district which has seen significant investment and development in recent years — the hotel tells stories of its neighborhood, where a symphony of Latin, Spanish, Native American and American folk influences are embraced and celebrated daily.
The choice location and prominent exterior reveal striking interiors designed by internationally recognized architect and fashion designer Angel Sanchez of Sanchez + Coleman Studio. Sanchez’s dramatic, contemporary designs, Venezuelan heritage and renown throughout Latin America and the U.S. made him the perfect choice to spearhead this project.
The Brutalist style of the interior architecture features poured concrete and rigid geometric lines and is contrasted by the vibrant rich blue and bright yellow palette and mosaic theme which runs through all the spaces. 140 guest rooms showcase local artwork and circular rugs inspired by the ancient Miami Circle archaeological site unearthed close to the hotel. The site was key in telling the story of Miami Brickell’s earliest inhabitants – the indigenous Tequesta people, who lived in the area for over 2,000 years.
Guests will check in surrounded by stunning custom tilework, evoking the mosaic of influences and cultures that thrive and collaborate in Brickell. Lobby photography depicts trailblazers Mary Brickell and Julia Tuttle (famed for helping to bring the railroad to Miami in the 1890s, resulting in the incorporation and eventual development and growth of the city) overlaid with a modern photograph of Brickell, gesturing to the old and new fused so effortlessly in this community. On the sixth floor, guests can bathe in Miami’s 248 days of sunshine at the outdoor pool with sun terrace. Next to the pool, guests working out in the 24-hour indoor fitness center, equipped with the latest fitness cardio equipment, weight machines and free-weights, will appreciate floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the poolside views across downtown to the ocean beyond.
Mosaico Kitchen and Bar hosts a unique restaurant offering in Miami, with pan-Latin Miami flavors influenced by the many Latinx communities across the city. Breakfast, dinner, great coffee and local craft beers are served in both the casual indoor space and outdoor terrace garden. Executive Chef Manuel Sulbaran hails from Merida, Venezuela and brings with him more than twenty years of international and local experience. Passionate about local farms and ranches and their teams and always looking for ways to incorporate seasonal and local ingredients into menus, his approach aligns perfectly with the brand’s ideals. Drinks can be enjoyed in the restaurant or lounge and includes seasonal cocktails and spirits that nod to Miami past and present.
The hotel’s central location is ideal for guests exploring the neighborhood and the city beyond, whether travelling for business or leisure. The hotel is situated adjacent to the Miami Metromover – a free service that links downtown and Brickell area – and a short walk to Miami Metro rail and the Miami Cruise Port. It also lies within walking distance to some of Miami’s greatest restaurants, bars, nightlife and superb shopping and close to many of the cultural and art museums, attractions, Port of Miami, American Airlines Arena.
