London (TAN): Hotel Indigo, an InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) brand, has opened a new property in United Kingdom’s Stratford-upon-Avon, famous all over the world as William Shakespeare’s hometown.

Located in the historic market town in England’s West Midlands, Hotel Indigo – Stratford-upon-Avon borrows its design inspiration from the heritage of the neighbourhood.

General Manager at Hotel Indigo – Stratford-upon-Avon, Carl Davies-Phillips said the hotel has officially opened.

“The hotel is a prime example of how Hotel Indigo brings the outside in; drawing on the local neighbourhood to inspire every aspect of each hotel, from intriguing design to locally inspired menus. From the restaurant onsite to the exclusive private garden, the hotel is a great place for locals to gather with friends and family. We look forward to welcoming many guests to enjoy Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare’s home town,” he added.

Designed with quintessential British elements such as raw wood and wool, the hotel pays homage to the land’s history while also exuding a modern attitude. The property’s exterior, adorned with Grade 1 Listed façade, was earlier a sixteenth century public house. A contemporary wing from the 1960s was attached to the property in the recent past. The hotel features Shakespeare-inspired artwork, murals and 3D artefacts.

Its 93 guestrooms are divided broadly into three designs as a tribute to Shakespeare and medieval Stratford. While the Tudor Rooms overlooking Shakespeare’s New Place, one of the Bard’s houses, is designed to look like a sixteenth century house, the Georgian Townhouse with its ‘touch of luxury with homely charm’ is inspired by the Shakespeare’s Theatre. The Contemporary Rooms in the new wing, however, drawing from the twentieth century, are more modern in their design.

“The UK is a popular leisure destination with both domestic and international travellers, and has some of the world’s most popular sites steeped in heritage and quintessential British culture, Stratford upon Avon being one of them. The Hotel Indigo brand fits perfectly with the unique feel of this historic town. This hotel is the perfect example of how the brand helps to tell the local neighbourhood story and serve both locals and hotel guests,” Managing Director, UK&I, IHG, Karan Khanna said.
