Delhi (TAN): India’s Ministry of Culture has announced ten historical monuments across the country will remain open for public until 2100 hours.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Patel said the ten heritage sites will be open to visitors from sunrise. At present, the gates of most monuments close by 1800 hours. The Ministry of Culture will reportedly follow the altered schedule for the next three years.

The extended timings will be available for Humayun’s Tomb and Safdarjung Tomb in Delhi, Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Dulhadev Temple in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, Sheikh Chilli Tomb in Kurukshetra, Haryana, Group of Monuments at Pattadakal and Gol Gumbaz, both in Karnataka, Markanda Group of Temples, Maharashtra, Man Mahal in Uttar Pradesh, and Rani ki Vav, Gujarat.

“Some places in this list are temples that are popular both among tourists and locals. People also visit temples at night. Hence, a decision was taken to extend their visiting time beyond 6 pm,” the minister was quoted by media reports as saying.
The decision was taken after a lot of consideration as proposals for keeping sites open until late hours kept coming in. As per reports, the schedule could be extended to several other monuments if the first phase of extension plan becomes successful.
