Agra, the city of Taj Mahal, is set to get a Taj hotel

Mumbai (TAN): The city of the Taj will soon welcome another Taj, the iconic Taj Hotels, that is.

The luxury brand of the Indian Hotels Company Limited’s (IHCL) will open a hotel in Agra in Uttar Pradesh state, home to the Taj Mahal.

This will be the group’s second property in the city, the other one being under the SeleQtions brand.

Taj signed a management contract with India-based real estate company Sincere Developers Pvt. Ltd. that will own Agra’s Taj branded hotel.

“This signing further strengthens our leadership in the leisure portfolio, as aligned to Aspiration 2022,” IHCL’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Puneet Chhatwal said.

He added: “Agra is one of the key cities in the famed Golden Triangle circuit. With this established hotel migrating to the Taj brand, the company will offer a multiple choice of hotels in all the three cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We are delighted to continue our growth in the fee based business model.”

Located close to one of the Seven Wonders of the World and one of the three UNESCO World Heritage sites Taj Mahal, the property features 239 guestrooms, an all-day diner, a restaurant specialising in Indian cuisine, a rooftop lounge with views of the Taj, and an event space.
