Lufthansa selects Deutsche Bank and Mastercard for Miles & More credit card issuance

(TAN): Lufthansa has chosen Deutsche Bank as the issuing bank for its Miles & More Credit Card, the airline said. 

Following a rigorous global tender, Deutsche Bank and Mastercard emerged as successful partners, with the transition scheduled for mid-2025. This collaboration aims to provide Lufthansa’s customers with enhanced and innovative services.

Christina Foerster, member of the executive board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said: “I look forward to working with strong partners to offer our customers even better and more innovative services. Together, we will continue to develop Europe’s leading loyalty programme.”

Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing said: “We are delighted that Lufthansa is relying on Deutsche Bank’s payments expertise and reach for this growth product. Through Miles & More, we will further advance our important payments business as part of our growth strategy as a Global House Bank.”

Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach emphasized the long-standing partnerships between Mastercard, Deutsche Bank, Lufthansa Group, and Miles & More, saying: “Mastercard has significant, long-standing partnerships with Deutsche Bank, Lufthansa Group and Miles & More. Together, we will make the future of travel more sustainable and optimize it with technical innovations. And we will use our momentum to do even more for Miles & More members.”

The switch to Deutsche Bank as the issuing institution is scheduled for the summer of 2025. Existing Lufthansa Miles & More Credit Cardholders need not take any action, as all current cards will remain valid until the changeover. Cardholders will be promptly informed about the transition date. Furthermore, the services provided by the credit card programme will remain unchanged with Deutsche Bank as the new partner.
