Peru works to attract more tourists to Machu Picchu: Reports

The ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu is Peru’s top tourist draw.

Lima (TAN): Peru Prime Minister Salvador del Solar said his government was working on a land management project to attract more tourists to the world-famous Machu Picchu, local media reports said.

The government, while attempting to increase tourist footfall, will also look to better the experience of visitors and have a positive impact of tourism on Cusco, where the ancient Inca site is located.

The Incan city of Machu Picchu is built on a mountain top. The buildings here are made with interlocking stones without the use of mortar. It is the top tourist draw in the South American country.

The government will also develop other tourist spots and archeologically significant sites such as Kuelap, Choquequirao, and the like, the Prime Minister said.
