(TAN): There’s good news for sustainable travel enthusiasts and fans of actor Zac Efron. Come July 10, Efron will host a brand new docu-series called ‘Down to Earth’ on Netflix.

The Hollywood actor is joined by wellness expert Darin Olien, and the duo go around the globe looking for answers to sustainable living and travel.

In the trailer launched by Netflix, Efron says, “We’re travelling around the world to find some new perspectives on some very old problems.”

Efron and Olien will meet eco innovators from around the globe to understand how changes can be incorporated when it comes to resources like food, water and energy, the three main staples of modern life. The quest will take the duo on off-beat journeys, where they will experience how modern technology is changing people’s lives and sustenance.

As pointed out by Efron himself, food plays a very important role in this Netflix show. “And we’re going to be eating really, really well,” he says, as he gets ready to enjoy a dung-smoked meal! The show promises many more strange culinary experiences and we can’t help but wonder if Down to Earth might be as much of a success as Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown.

The show’s take on consumption, however, is far bigger than just a few unique meals that Efron and Olien find themselves savouring. The 32-year-old actor sums it up by saying, “We need to start rethinking how we consume everything, from our food to our power.”

The team has been shooting in the UK, France, Iceland, Peru, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. Going by the trailer, the show seems to be a gift for travel bugs, who have been cooped inside their homes due to the ongoing travel restrictions. While exploring new places, Efron and Olien will also meet local innovators who are bringing about a change in their societies.

The show promises to “open our minds” to alternate means of resources and living. Terming change as an inside job, the show aims to change our consciousness towards sustainable living and travel.

Down to Earth releases on Netflix on July 10. All episodes will drop at once for those who want to binge watch this one.
