(TAN): Nevada’s Governor has issued a travel advisory urging people entering the state to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor their health in an attempt to curb the spread of the pandemic, reports said.
Governor Steve Sisolak reportedly advised both visitors to the state and residents returning from outside Nevada to isolate themselves.
“We know this virus does not spread on its own, so we need everyone, Nevadans and travellers, to take preventive measures to help flatten the curve and protect the most vulnerable among us,” Sisolak was quoted by Las Vegas Sun as saying.

“Nevada will always be a welcoming spot for travelers, but out of an abundance of caution, we are asking everyone to Stay Home for Nevada, especially if you have symptoms,” he added.
The visitors are reportedly urged to quarantine themselves for two weeks or the extent of their visit, whichever is shorter. During this period, self-isolated individuals should stay away from public places and people who do not belong to their household, reports said.
According to reports, the Governor also urged residents to avoid nonessential travel, particularly to regions where the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued advisories. The CDC has issued an advisory for residents of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey to “refrain from non-essential domestic travel”.
Individuals employed in healthcare or public health, public safety, transportation and food supply are exempted from the advisory, reports said.
Nevada reportedly became the 17th state in the country to issue such as advisory.
According to data from John Hopkins University, 1142 people have been infected by the virus, of which 34 people have died.
Also called the Silver State, Nevada lies in the western part of the United States. It is known all over the world for attractions such as Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, that are thronged by tourists throughout the year.
