Dubai (TAN): Soon after deploying its newest Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft on the Dubai-Riyadh and Dubai-Kuwait routes, Emirates will now use the aircraft to fly to Malé, the capital of Maldives, starting June 1, 2019.

Malé will be the first destination in South Asia to be served on a regular basis by the new Boeing 777-300 ER model, the carrier said.

While the new aircraft started operating on the Dubai-Riyadh route earlier this month, Emirates announced the deployment of the same model on flights to Kuwait from June 1.

Emirates’ Senior Vice President, West Asia & Indian Ocean Ahmed Khoory said: “The Maldives has become an increasingly popular destination for Emirates, attracting premium travelers, honeymooners and families from around the world. Introducing the new Boeing 777 with the state-of-the-art First Class suites on this route reaffirms our longstanding commitment to Malé.”

Ergonomically designed seats that recline into a fully flat bed

Boeing 777-300 ER’s ‘Game Changer’ fully-enclosed first class suites, inspired by German automobile company Mercedes-Benz, are laid out in a 1-1-1 configuration. The ergonomically designed seats that provide up to 40 square feet of personal space each, recline into a fully flat-bed that can be changed into several positions, and can also be put in a NASA technology-inspired zero gravity state to induce a feeling of weightlessness up in the air.

The middle aisle suites are fitted with virtual windows, which, according to Emirates are ‘the industry’s first’. These windows ‘project a view from outside the aircraft using real time fibre-optic camera technology’. Also, the airline will offer binoculars for exploring the views.

Inspired by the interior of a modern sports car, the business class seats feature an ergonomically designed headrest. Apart from offering privacy panels between seats, a shoe stowage area, footrest, and a personal mini-bar, the business class offer flyers customisable lighting and entertainment options.

According to the schedule, flight EK658 will depart Dubai daily at 0420 hours, reaching Malé at 0930 hours. The return flight EK659 will take off from Malé at 1100 hours, and land in Dubai at 1400 hours.
