(TAN): Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced the introduction of a new free internet service on all long-haul flights starting from August 2. Passengers in all classes can now enjoy unlimited access to chat apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram throughout their flights.

SWISS travellers can also opt for two supplementary internet packages: ‘Wi-Fi 4 Hours’ for CHF 25 (USD 28.67), offering four hours of internet access, or ‘Wi-Fi Premium’ for CHF 35, providing access throughout the flight. First Class and HON Circle Members will enjoy unlimited internet access during their entire journey.

The services, including the free chat option and the supplementary packages, will offer unlimited data volumes, ensuring smooth consumption of data-heavy content. Video streaming services will be deactivated to optimize bandwidth for all passengers, but videos on social media platforms will still be playable. Additionally, audio streaming, cloud services, and VPN services will be available.

Passengers will also have access to the digital SWISS Magazine on their devices without activated internet access. Furthermore, they can now register for ‘Travel ID’ and ‘Miles & More’ to easily access the new internet service in the future and enjoy various benefits during their journey.

SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Tamur Goudarzi Pour said: “With our new unlimited free chat facility in all our travel classes, our guests can keep in contact with their families, friends and business partners throughout their flight. Our attractive new packages for surfing, email and social media also offer unlimited data volumes.”
