Nicosia, Cyprus (TAN): A 19-year-old woman, who had claimed nearly two weeks ago of being gang-raped by 12 Israeli teenagers in Cyprus, has admitted that the sex was consensual and that she had filed the complaint because she felt humiliated since the act was filmed with her consent and she was kicked out of the hotel room afterwards, The Times of Israel said.

The woman has been arrested and she will be produced in court on Monday.

Five boys had been released last week and the remaining seven on Sunday.

According to the report citing local Hebrew media, the police suspected the woman had been lying when her version did not add up with the testimonies of the boys, all aged 15-18.

She had said two boys held her down while she cried while the other raped her and beat her up. However, when police showed her videos filmed by the boys that showed her smiling during the act she broke down and admitted filing the complaint because she felt humiliated after one boy kicked her out of the hotel room, the report said.

“I went down from the room and met two of my friends. I told them what had happened and they immediately told me to file a complaint with police,” she was quoted by Channel 12 as saying.

Investigators then understood she had been lying and arrested her. The remaining boys were later released.

The boys claim everything was consensual.
